The easiest and most impressive way to see the Transfagarasan Road (one of the most beautiful roads in Europe) is by cable car. Because most of the year the road is closed due to snow, the lift with the cable car is open most of the time. This cable car was built in 1794, it is one of the oldest cable lines in Romania. If you are looking for a spectacular viewpoint, here you should come! The observation is accessible by car during the summer season. On both sides of the mountain the view is spectacular.
One of the most beautiful semi-lake Cabin is The Balea Glacier Caldera, which houses the iconic Lake (4.6 ha, altitude 2,034 m), is by far the most important altitude sports center in the Carpathians of Romania.
It is loccated in the heart of the massive Fagaras – himself the largest mountain complex of Carpathians – Balea Lac area, part of the homonymous nature reserve (180 ha surface), presents a typical glacial relief with moraines, terraces, “U” shaped valley, dominated by deep crenelated ridges rising from the northeast to southwest the Vaiuga peaks 2,443 m, separated by the Iezerul Caprei 2,417 m from the Săua Caprei 2,315 m and the Paltinul 2,398 m. From here we descend the Bâlii ridge to the north, beyond the Cascade in the Honey Peak at 1,500 m.
A real landscape of a unique austere beauty is overwhelming. both in summer and especially in the white season. Then the fascinating world of frozen north moves, with high, glittering snow, hanging like the eaves of the heights that merge into the white of ephemeral clouds. .
In 1975, to facilitate access to the cottage and the ridge routes, the cable car line was arranged and since then it becomes a touristic destination from all over the world.
