The legend of Sfanta Ana Lake starts with two young men that were to be married. The girl, called Ana, who was to become a wife, did not want this because her parents forced her to marry only to put her hand on the young man’s fortune, which was quite unkempt in her husband’s. On the evening of the wedding, the bride ran away and threw herself into this lake, her lifeless body not being found even today. Because of this, the lake is named after that girl. Every year, by the dedication of Saint Ana, the lake is sanctified by the metropolis.
